Head, Internal Audit

Elizabeth Akinde is an audit professional with over 15 years of experience across internal audit, risk management, financial control, Investment management and customer relationship management. She currently heads the internal audit team responsible for internal audit duties within the investment banking and asset management group at First Holdco plc. Her key responsibilities include internal control and risk assessment, audit planning, execution, reporting and proffering recommendations to mitigate varying risks, stakeholder engagement and quality assurance.

She started her career as a Financial Control officer at Kakawa Discount House, after which she proceeded to Kakawa Asset Management Limited, Uyo as a branch head and investment management officer. She moved on to head the internal audit team at Kakawa Asset Management and then financial auditor in Kakawa Discount House Ltd. Following the acquisition of Kakawa Discount House by FBN Capital, she moved on to work in the internal audit team. In 2020, she was appointed Head, internal audit at FBNQuest Capital Limited, now FirstCap Limited.

Elizabeth is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and a graduate of Economics from the Olabisi Onabanjo University. Her attention to detail and leadership have helped steer the wheel of the Audit function in FirstCap Limited and other sister companies.
